Tips on using Quick 10B Finance

NOTE: Throughout the documentation for the calculator, the notation [] denotes the yellow shift key located to the left of the numeric four key. And the notation [] denotes the blue shift key located to the left of the numeric seven key.

  1. To get help on each of the keys, tap and hold the key for two seconds and the help window for that key will open. For instance, tap and hold the [N] key for two seconds for help information on [N]. For help on the yellow functions such as [xP/YR], which is the yellow function on the [N] key, tap [] then tap and hold [xP/YR] for two seconds and so on.

  2. Tap [] [SETTINGS] to open the calculator Settings page. Here [SETTINGS] is the yellow function on the thousand [000] key at bottom left.

  3. You can change the number of decimal places from the Settings page as described above; or use the keystrokes [] [DISPLAY] [n] where n is the desired number of decimal places. For instance, to set the display to use two decimal places use the keystrokes [] [DISPLAY] [2].

  4. Use the Business display format to display numbers in compact form. For instance, you can set the calculator to display 7,500,000.00 as "7.5M". Go to the calculator Settings page using the keystrokes [] [SETTINGS] as described above to set the Business display format and customize abbreviations. You can use up to two characters for the abbreviations. In the Settings page tap the question mark for more help.

  5. The calculator supports unit conversions. Key in the quantity you want to convert then tap [] [CONVERT] to open the Unit Converter page.

  6. You can convert different units of the same kind to another unit easily. For instance to convert 3 feet 5 inches into centimeter use the following keystrokes.

    Key in 3 then tap [] [CONVERT] to open the Unit Converter page.
    Select foot in From Unit. Select centimeter in To Unit. Tap the check mark to convert 3 feet into centimeters.

    Tap [+] then key in 5.

    Then tap [] [CONVERT] to open the Unit Converter page again.
    Select inch in From Unit. Select centimeter in To Unit. Tap the check mark to convert 5 inches into centimeters.

    Tap [=] to add the result which is 104.14 centimeters.

  7. Use the keystrokes [] [xP/YR] to multiply the number of years with the number of payments per year [P/YR] and store the result into the N variable. For instance, if number of payments per year [P/YR] is set to 12 and number of years is 10, the keystrokes 10 [] [xP/YR] stores 120 into the N variable.

  8. [IRR/YR] calculates the annualized internal rate of return. For periodic rate divide the result obtained by [P/YR].

  9. Use the thousand key [000] to enter thousands and save a few keystrokes.

  10. Use the keystrokes 10 [RCL] [SHIFT] [Backspace] to reset the calculator to factory default setting.
